Web Update May-June 2008

A Note From Ed

Things have been quite busy the last few months. Just getting a newsletter out has been a real chore and yet, so many things have been going on that I really need to be in touch weekly. We are revamping our website and I am planning on a Blog thing that will allow me to interact with you on a regular basis.

We had a major server crash last month that all but put us out of business with the website. To make matters worse, someone at the company we used was not backing up our files each week. While we were able to get most of the system back up in bits and pieces, we are still having a few carry-over problems. We did lose most of a new, updated and expanded replacement site.

It is a vital part of our ministry; so many tens of thousands of people world wide use the site and literally many millions of pages of data and thousands of audio files have been downloaded.  Thousands of people have emailed me over the years, telling me how the site helped them in their search for truth and the real Jesus.

Your support of this tremendous tool for reaching the lost is needed. Please, take a few minutes and write a check or use the "Give a Donation" button at www.saintsalive.com (our safe, secured bookstore) and join with us in keeping this web site and ministry available 24/7. Your giving goes beyond keeping us up and running. It reaches people who are lost in spiritual darkness and is key in their salvation.

Your brother in Christ,

Black and Delightsome

In June 1978, the Slaves were set free in Mormonism. There have been celebrations commemorating the revelation the then LDS president, Spencer W. Kimball had wherein the LDS god said that his eternal curse on African Americans was lifted and that they too, could now hold the Mormon priesthood.

I felt at the time that it was like being told they could now join the Ku Klux Klan.

According to the teachings of many LDS prophets, the Mormon god had cursed the children of Cain with a dark skin so they could be set apart from the rest of humanity and be easily recognizable so none would be able to be given the priesthood.

I remember thinking that it was a bit of over-kill. Women never were allowed to hold the priesthood, so why were they also cursed with black skins?  Some LDS sage once told us in a priesthood meeting that they were black also, because t if they were white [and delightsome] they wouldn't want to marry a black man.

In actuality, this marvelous 'revelation' came at a very opportune time for the church. This was the time when the Civil Rights movement had been in full swing for 15 years and many of the racist issues of the country were being cleaned up.

The Mormon Church, however, was in no hurry. Its church university, BYU, still segregated its few black students, mostly scholarship athletes who slept in substandard rooms in separate buildings from the white students.

The church was told to de-segregate the campus by the government, but the Church responded that the school did not receive federal funds and was a private school, not subject to Federal regulations. The government responded that while the Church did not receive federal funding, a majority of its students did. I remember that the figure was in the millions of dollars a year.

The church was again told to de-segregate or the students attending BYU would lose their federal grants, etc. and BYU would be fined and possibly lose its own tax exemption. The Church appealed and the government was set to issue its decision in late June of 1978. That was when the Mormon god spoke to President Kimball, the blacks were forgiven and everybody lived happily ever after.

After the curse was lifted, we wondered if the next baby born to a black couple would be white. After all the curse of a black skin was there to prevent black males from being set apart in the priesthood. Now there was no need and if the next baby was born white, then it would be living proof that Mormonism was true and the LDS god did speak to man.  Alas, no white back babies ever showed up. I guess they will have to wait until they make it to godhood to become White and Delightsome.

What utter foolishness!

Utah Mormon Mason Becomes First LDS Grand Master in Century

From article by Carrie A. Moore
Published Saturday, Mar. 29, 2008

"It's been nearly a quarter of a century since Freemasons in Utah rescinded a 60-year ban that prohibited Latter-day Saints from joining their fraternity. And while many remember the religious division that had characterized Freemasonry in the Beehive State from pioneer times, Glen Cook believes he is evidence that things are changing among his Masonic brethren.

Cook, a Salt Lake criminal defense attorney and Brigham Young University law school graduate, is believed to be the first member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be elected grand master in Utah in nearly a century, overseeing the activities of several lodges around the state and looking to make the group more open to public understanding.

During a recent tour of the Masonic Temple in downtown Salt Lake City following his installation in February, Cook said there are definite misconceptions about Freemasonry in Utah, particularly among Latter-day Saints, 'but there's also some reality there as well.'"

Texas polygamy sect in joyful reunion as children are returned

By Daily Mail Reporter June 3, 2008

More than 400 child members of a polygamist sect began returning to their families on Monday after a judge lifted her order giving the state of Texas custody of the children.  The youngsters were reunited with their parents as a leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints said the sect would no longer sanctify marriages of girls under the legal age of consent.

I am Not a Prophet, but

With tens of thousands of polygamous "Mormon" marriages across the USA, Canada and Mexico and the unpublicized and quietly acceptable hundreds of thousands of Islamic marriages with multiple wives here in the USA…. The days are short before it all becomes a legal religious preference.
With men a now marrying men and women now marrying women, the sages say, "at least these guys are marrying women."

My Kingdom Come:
The Mormon Quest for Godhood

I need your help...

The book is doing well and reports come in that it is the best study of Mormonism yet. But, I need your help to expand its distribution. Here is what you can do right now:

1)        Order one for your pastor. It should be on every pastor's desk.

2)    Order a loan copy from your local library. That will get at least one copy in library circulation

3)        Order one from your local Christian bookstore and ask for one at stores like Barnes and Nobles that show it in their booklist but may not have a copy in the store.

4)    Order one for yourself at Saints Alive Bookstore

President Bush Visits the Prophet

GIVES HIM SECOND TOKEN OF THE MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD, THE PATRIARCHAL GRIP, OR SURE SIGN OF THE NAIL

ooops...

"He meets with [the First Presidency] regularly and thinks that they have a good role to play in America, in terms of spreading the word of love," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said yesterday, as reported by the Salt Lake Tribune. "I don't think the president would ever pass up an opportunity to meet with the president of the Mormon church." (LDS press release)

President Bush using LDS secret Temple handshake? Absolutely!

We keep hearing that Islam is a religion of peace, misunderstood and maligned
